Itinerary
Begin your adventure in Rwanda’s clean and vibrant capital, Kigali. After a brief city tour or visit to the Genocide Memorial (optional), travel north through scenic highlands to Volcanoes National Park. Check into your comfortable lodge at the foot of the Virunga Mountains and prepare for your first trek.
After an early breakfast, meet your experienced ranger guides and begin your trek into the misty forested slopes of the Virungas. Once a gorilla family is located, spend a magical hour observing their behavior and interactions. Return to your lodge for lunch, and spend the rest of the day relaxing or visiting the nearby Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village.
Enjoy a scenic drive through the Virunga ranges as you cross into southwestern Uganda. After clearing border formalities, head to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Settle into your forest lodge and soak in the peaceful atmosphere of this ancient jungle.
Today brings a second, equally unforgettable gorilla trekking experience—this time in Uganda’s dense, primeval forest. Guided by skilled trackers, you’ll follow fresh signs of gorilla activity and spend an hour face-to-face with a different gorilla family. Return to your lodge and share stories of your two treks over dinner.
After breakfast, begin your journey back to Kigali through rolling hills and local villages, arriving in time for your international flight or further travel plans. Optional stops can include local craft markets or a tea plantation tour.
