Ol Pejeta Conservancy is a stunning wildlife haven located on the foothills of Mount Kenya and the Aberdare Range. Spanning 90,000 acres, it is East Africa’s largest black rhino sanctuary and a leading example of sustainable conservation. The conservancy is home to diverse wildlife, including the “Big Five” (lion, leopard, rhinoceros, elephant, and Cape buffalo), cheetahs, wild dogs, and over 300 bird species.
Notably, Ol Pejeta is the last sanctuary of the two remaining northern white rhinos, offering visitors the chance to witness their poignant story of survival. In addition to wildlife safaris, visitors can experience night game drives, guided bush walks, or a behind-the-scenes tour of the conservancy’s cutting-edge conservation efforts, including the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary.
Blending conservation with community, Ol Pejeta also supports local development projects, ensuring nearby communities benefit directly from tourism and wildlife protection. It’s a must-visit for those seeking adventure, breathtaking landscapes, and a deeper connection to nature and conservation.
Ol Pejeta Conservancy is located approximately 200 kilometers (124 miles) north of Nairobi, near the town of Nanyuki, on the Laikipia Plateau. It sits at the base of Mount Kenya, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes.
