10 Days Kenya Explorer Safari

Arrive in Nairobi, where you’ll be warmly welcomed by your guide and transferred to your hotel. After check-in and a brief rest, enjoy an afternoon tour of Nairobi’s highlights, including a visit to the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust to see orphaned elephants, and the Giraffe Centre, home to the endangered Rothschild giraffe. Later, enjoy a traditional Kenyan dinner at a local restaurant, immersing yourself in the flavors of the country before your safari adventure begins.

After breakfast, depart for Mount Kenya, the second-highest peak in Africa and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Here, you’ll explore lush forests, alpine meadows, and unique wildlife in the park. The area is home to a variety of animals, including elephants, buffalo, monkeys, and numerous bird species. Enjoy scenic nature walks or a game drive, and relax at your lodge with incredible views of the mountain. Mount Kenya’s rugged beauty provides a peaceful and picturesque start to your safari journey.

Next, head north to the arid Samburu National Reserve, famous for its stunning landscapes and rare wildlife. Samburu is home to the Samburu Five: the reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, Beisa oryx, Somali ostrich, and gerenuk, along with other big game species such as lions, elephants, and cheetahs. Enjoy morning and afternoon game drives, where you’ll discover this unique region’s exceptional wildlife. You will also have the opportunity to visit a Samburu village to learn about the traditions and culture of the indigenous Samburu people, gaining insight into their semi-nomadic lifestyle.

On day 6, head south to Lake Nakuru National Park, located in the Great Rift Valley. The park is renowned for its massive flocks of flamingos (seasonal), along with other bird species such as pelicans, herons, and eagles. Lake Nakuru is also home to both black and white rhinos, along with lions, buffalo, giraffes, and baboons. Take a leisurely game drive around the lake and enjoy the stunning views of the water and the surrounding escarpment. This is a perfect spot for birdwatching and wildlife photography.

Continue your safari journey to Maasai Mara Game Reserve, one of Africa’s most famous wildlife destinations. The Mara is renowned for its rich wildlife, including the Big Five (lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, and rhino), and offers some of the best game-viewing experiences in the world. If your visit coincides with the Great Migration (usually from July to October), you may witness the awe-inspiring crossing of thousands of wildebeest and zebras at the Mara River. Over two days, enjoy game drives, the opportunity to spot predators in action, and visit a Maasai village to learn about the Maasai people’s culture and traditions. A hot air balloon safari at dawn provides a unique perspective of the Mara’s plains, followed by a delicious breakfast in the heart of the reserve.

On day 9, head to Amboseli National Park, one of Kenya’s most iconic safari destinations. Situated at the base of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak, Amboseli offers breathtaking views of the snow-capped mountain. Continue your journey to Mombasa, Kenya’s coastal gem, where you will spend the evening relaxing at a beach resort. The coastal city offers the perfect place to unwind after your safari, with options for exploring historic sites like Fort Jesus or enjoying a stroll along the sandy beaches.
